Your entry into investing - five steps to greater financial independence

Investing money - for many, that sounds like stock market professionals and large sums of money. But this is no longer true. Even with small amounts, you can build something up in the long term. As a supporter of the Women's Run, we at BEKB are happy to accompany you on this path.

Positioning: The beginning of every investment

Before you get started, it's worth taking a look at your current situation: How much money do you have available each month? Do you have an emergency reserve of two to three months' wages? What are your financial goals? These questions will help you find the right starting point. Are you still missing information? Our seminars in the BEKB Atelier or the financial espresso for women offer you valuable insights.

Step 1: Understand how investing works

When investing, you put money into securities such as funds or ETFs. In contrast to savings accounts, where interest rates are often below inflation, here you have the chance of a higher return, albeit with price fluctuations and risks of loss. The key? The compound interest effect - your earnings generate earnings themselves. This means that even a small amount can grow over the years.

💡 Tip: As little as five francs a month can be a sensible start. The important thing is not the amount, but the regularity.

Step 2: Determine your budget

Think about an amount that you can easily spare - be it 5, 10, 50 or more francs a month. With the BEKB fund savings plan, you can start from as little as CHF 5 per month. As soon as 100 francs have been accumulated, the amount is automatically invested.

Step 3: Find your investment strategy

Are you more cautious, balanced or risk-taking? Depending on your personality and your goals, a different strategy will suit you. Your personal risk appetite, investment goals and time horizon are crucial. Our financial coaches will help you find the right solution.

Step 4: Choose the right product

There are various ways to invest small amounts. A fund savings plan is ideal for anyone who wants to invest regularly and automatically - you set up a standing order once and that's it. "With a fund, you invest your money in a diversified way with minimal effort," explains Sandra Maurer, financial coach at BEKB. This means that your money is spread across different investments, sectors and regions, which can spread risks and reduce cluster risks.

Pillar 3a with securities combines retirement provision with potential returns and tax advantages. ETFs are cost-effective and broadly diversified, but you make the decisions yourself.

Step 5: Stick with it - even if it fluctuates

The stock market has ups and downs - that's normal. Don't let short-term fluctuations unsettle you. Those who take a long-term view and stick to their strategy often have a better chance of smoothing out fluctuations historically.

Conclusion: The first step counts

Investing is not rocket science and you don't have to do it alone. With the right support and a plan that suits you, you can pursue your financial goals step by step and build wealth. Start today with an amount that suits you and use your money in a targeted manner.
